Episode 1: The Power of Passion, Persistence & Patience with Natalie Barr

There's a saying in the small business world "What Looks Like Success is Often Just Patience"...and my first guest on the podcast, Natalie Barr, is absolutely the poster child for that.

She waited 18 years to get promoted to the top of the television totem pole...patiently ploughing away in her role as Newsreader on Channel 7's Sunrise and biding her time, choosing to simply enjoy the journey instead.

If you're in Australia you'll know Nat as one half of the very successful morning television hosting duo, Nat and Kochie, on Seven's top rating TV show, Sunrise.

If you're not familiar with Nat, allow me to introduce her. Natalie Barr is a very talented journalist, producer, newsreader and television show host.  Some media commentators would call her the "darling" of morning television.  Nat says she's just a mum and a news junkie news who's addicted to the pressure of live TV.

Nat's success story is not a typical one.  A small town country girl from Western Australia, Nat says she NEVER had ambition for the top job in TV news. Nevertheless, 18 years, YES 18 years after she first joined Sunrise as a newsreader, Nat was offered the hosting gig on Sunrise in mid-2021.

That's a long-time to be the bridesmaid and not the bride.

Join me as Nat tells her captivating story from her days as a curious kid from Bunbury, who loved adult conversation more than playing with kids her own age, to her life as a major news reporter travelling the globe covering everything from Obama's Inauguration, to natural disasters, terrorist attacks, the Oscars and everything in between.

A fascinating tale of passion, perseverance, and a hell of a lot of patience that one day her big break would come. While you're listening, have a think about why this story might resonate with you so strongly, and the way Nat tells her story that makes you want to keep listening. Later this season, we're going to learn how you can tell your brand or business story in the same way.
